Seit dem zweiten Quartal 2024 arbeitet der Entwicklungshilfeklub intensiv mit Oxfam in Nepal zusammen. Das bringt beiden Seiten große Vorteile: Der vermehrte Austausch verhalf dem Team des Entwicklungshilfeklubs zu einem tieferen Einblick in die Situation der Menschen vor Ort. So können wir anderen noch besser erklären, was die Herausforderungen sind und wie die einzelnen Projekte wirken. Oxfam in Nepal wiederum hat mehr Planungssicherheit und mehr Einblick und Mitsprache, wie über seine Aktivitäten berichtet wird.
In diesem Rahmen wurden bislang vier der fünf thematischen Prioritäten von Oxfam in Nepal unterstützt. Dabei ging es darum, Menschen sicher mit Trinkwasser zu versorgen, Frauen zu stärken und ihnen zu einem eigenen Einkommen zu verhelfen sowie KleinbäuerInnen bei der Umstellung auf klimaresiliente Landwirtschaft unter die Arme zu greifen.

Oxfam in Nepal’s updated Country Strategy for 2025–2027 presents a crucial transformation to respond more effectively to Nepal’s evolving development landscape. This strategic shift signals a renewed commitment to impact, innovation, and alignment with national priorities—offering a timely and compelling opportunity to invest in programs that are both locally grounded and globally informed.
Our new strategy takes an intersectional approach to social, economic and environmental challenges, focusing on four pillars underpinned by 5 thematic priorities.
- Climate Resilience and Economic Justice
We’re supporting communities to adapt to the climate crisis by expanding locally led solutions, including sustainable farming practices that protect the environment and strengthen livelihoods. - Water Governance and WASH Innovation
Most people in Nepal have access to clean water, but many still face problems with quality and reliability. Our rural water boards are helping local authorities improve water services, with plans to grow this approach nationwide. - Humanitarian Preparedness and Response
Nepal is vulnerable to disasters. We’re helping communities and local authorities prepare for and respond to emergencies quickly and effectively, so no one is left behind when crisis strikes. - Tackling Inequality and Power Imbalances
We put fairness and justice at the heart of our work, challenging the barriers that hold people back—especially women, young people, people with disabilities and those affected by climate change.
Strengthening Core Capacities for Sustainable Impact
To deliver strong, lasting results, we are investing in our staff, systems, and local partnerships so we can respond faster to crises, design better programmes, and support community-led change at scale.
